Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) was an American photographer who documented the surviving Native American Tribes West of the Mississippi River from Mexico to Alaska. His great project titled: The Vanishing Race took from 1904-1930 to complete. Edward Curtis received funding from JP Morgan to create 20 portfolio sets including 20 leather bound book volumes depicting the Native American Tribes and the American West. Only 291 sets were realized. Mostly known for his portfolio photogravures and rare orotones, Curtis photographs are as historically important as they are breathtaking.
