Space Walker, Feb. 3-11, 1984, On February 7, 1984, astronaut Robert Gibson used a Hasselblad camera to take this picture of astronaut Bruce McCandless II, when he became the first person to fly untethered in space. McCandless traveled more than 300 feet from the Space Shuttle Challenger, 150 nautical miles above Earth.
