Richard Sexton was born in 1954 in Atlanta, Ga.
He grew up in Colquitt, GA. and now resides in New Orleans, LA.

Known for:
Architectural photographs; images of interiors and gardens.
He is especially known for photographs of Louisiana's plantations.

“Like the nude, architectural ruins can possess a disturbing vulnerability. The notion that a transitory condition has been permanently etched on film is inherent. The photographing of ruins thus is a form of catharsis, mitigating a condition pregnant with uncertainty, doubt, and melancholy."

General Format:
Generally, photographs are 16" x 16", 20" x 30", or 30" x 40".
Some available in silver gelatin. Sexton now uses a quadtone piezo carbon-pigment digital print process.

How many photographs exist?
Photographs are in numbered editions of 25. The portfolio is in an edition of 10.

$500- $15,000. depending on size and edition number.

How are the photographs printed and signed?
Signed au recto in pencil.

A few vintage photographs are available. Vintage means that the print date is at or near the same time as the negative date.

Technical Information:
Sexton uses digital techniques for the printing of his photographs from the original negative.
