Wendi Schneider was born in Memphis, TN, in 1955.

Known for:
Hand-painted photographs of flowers, sensual closeup images, major contributor to the orginal Victoria magazine and dozens of book covers.

Wendi Schneider designed, photographed, art directed and produced
the award-winning recreation of the 1901 Picayune's Creole Cook Book for The Times-Picayune sesquicentennial celebration.

"I am driven by a quest for balance and grace and strive to capture the elusive quality of a fleeting image, to preserve that magical moment of illumination that touches the soul."

General Format:
Early Work: 11" x 14", 16" x 20", 20' x 24", 30" x 40", 40" x 60" silver gelatin on fiber paper, often sepia toned and painted with oils; 3" x 3/4"
and 8" x 10" polaroid transfers.

Later Work: 8" x 10" or 30" x 40" Cibachrome, various sizes of pigment prints on watercolor paper.

Current Work: Various sizes: pigment on vellum with 24k gold, white gold or silver leaf, pigment or lightjet on metallic, backlit DuraTrans on plexiglass.

How many photographs exist?
Editions of 10, 25, or less, and a few artists proofs. Many of the hand-painted photographs and Polaroid Transfers were editions of 10, but for most, fewer than 6 were realized.

How are the photographs printed and signed?
Either printed by Schneider or by working closely with a master printer. Signed either Au Verso or Au Recto or both.

Technical Information
Schneider bought her first Nikon FE in 1982 to make reference photographs of models for her oil paintings. She later used Nikon N90s and then moved on to digital, including early Fuji, Sony, Nikon D80, D90, D7000. Most of Schneider's images are made with ambient light.

Some vintage images are available,
primarily hand-painted photographs.
